This class is an introduction to the potter’s wheel and hand-building approaches. We will focus on wedging, shaping, trimming, and glazing techniques.
Open to all skill levels, no prior experience is required. Demonstrations, group discussions, and one-to-one attention will be given to each student.

A non-refundable deposit of $130 for each participant must be received upon registration to reserve your spot. The remaining class fee of $135 can be paid the first day of class. See below for payment options.

Class Schedule:
Weeks 1 – 3 : beginner wheel introduction, practicing of techniques
Week 4: glazing processes introduced; students will glaze work then continue with wheel throwing
Week 5 : A discussion of our first glaze results and an introduction to a hand building technique
Week 6 – 7 : Student’s choice – complete the suggested assignment or work with the instructor to develop your own project.
Week 8: Break for firings (No Class)
Week 9: Glazing class
Potluck and work pick-up date TBD
Classes run for 9 weeks with a break at the end of the session to prepare student work for glazing, giving each student 8 three-hour classes to be introduced to a variety of ceramic techniques and projects. With only 5 openings in this class, students will be given ample hands on direction and guidance, leaving the class with their finished pieces of art and a new appreciation for mud.
All students are invited to participate in a year end gallery exhibition showcasing student work.
